I've been very impressed with Hentkowski. We work with a wide range of contractors and see a lot of good and bad. Hentkowski genuinely care about their customers and their community. 1) Install programmable A/C thermostat
The best technicians I have encountered , both Joe and Charlie. Both came to house for heater problems and were quick to respond, quick to determine cause of problem and correction. Will use them as my permanent technicians for heater, generator and AC.
Hentkowski just doesn't know what they are doing. They didn't fix the problem, but actually cause another problem.
I bought the control ahead of the time. The installation costs $104. It works fine.
I choose Hentkowski based on the good reviews. I certainly had a very different experience with them. Overall they are over-priced and quality is bad.
I had a problem with my heating system and Nest Thermostat. Hentkowski sent out Bill to do a diagnostic and potentially fix the issue. Bill was great, he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. He examined the system and the Nest and went through a ton of different possible causes and testing different things to figure out the issue. It turns out the Nest wasn't compatible with my old intermittent spark ignition furnace but worked some times. Bill even called Nests support and spoke with them for quite some time to try and find any possible solution and when there wasn't one he made sure to make it clear to Nest it was their product (Nests customer support has been surprisingly good as well and I would try one again if I updated my system in the future)and so Nest is giving me a refund. I'm fairly tech savvy/mechanically inclined/curious and Bill also explained potential causes and what he was doing etc which was great. Overall the best experience I have had with this sort of thing.
The tune-up costs $139. I replaced a contractor per suggestion, cost another $134. I am not an expert, but Heat-pump works fine. After the tune-up and replacing the part, the technician says the heat pump works fine. 2 weeks later, the same technician checked again and say the back-up heating does not work. He cannot fix it, and suggest replacing the entire HVAC and Heating system, costs a few thousand dollar.
Our AC shut down yesterday in our Newark office. I contacted Hentkowski and within a few hours, John was here to diagnose and fix the problem with our unit. He was knowledgable, friendly and efficient. It was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again for help. Losing your AC in the office isn't fun, but they saved the day! So far, my experience is not great. But I won't write this review, if it not were the water heater issue.
My water heater stopped working. I called Hentkowski. The first time, they did a diagnosis, cost $80, without fixing it. The second time, they replaced a heating element, cost $225. The technician told me that it would take a while for the water heater to heat the water, so he left. It is not fixed. The same technician came back and told me that the water heater is dead. I need to replace it with a new one. I paid over $300 without fixing the problem.
The funny thing is that the next day, I called another company. They came in the fixed the water heater in 20 minutes. They charged me $40 for the parts and the repair. They also told me that the problem is very likely caused by the technician from Hentkowski.
