I found Collins Building Supply by accident when I stopped in to ask for directions. The man at the counter, Joe, was really helpful. So I asked him about a complicated custom door I needed. Over several visits, he spent a lot of time telling me about several alternatives. He clearly knows his stuff and has the patience to teach you about it. It turns out that the man was Joe Collins, the owner. He's very knowledgeable, very helpful and you can easily talk with him.
Best secret in Wilmington for hardware and lumber. Joe goes to great lengths to help you and if he doesn't have it in his store, he will get it for you. Much more satisfaction in shopping here rather than driving down the street to the "megabox" Lowes.
This store is definitely worth your while. Now I stop in for less complicated purchases. The store is a like a old-fashioned hardware store; it's worth a visit just for that reason. Check it out.
