Nice, big store. Clean with great selections and prices. Having only one cashier on duty for regular (non-express) checkout is a major problem.
You really can't have it both ways. Some customers (like me) typically don't buy that many items in one purchase. So it's nice to have an Express line. Today, I waited about fifteen minutes in this line that was four deep and the line didn't move at all. It was the slowest line in the store. Abandoned my cart and left.
Just left this Food Lion store. Here's a helpful tip. If the checkout sign says "Express", why not consider enforcing that?
I went here to get some chicken tenders for lunch. There were only wings and fried chicken out. I asked at the deli counter and was told, "We ain't got none.". I've been to other Food Lion stores and have had an offer to make some for me. How does one get a job where one might address a customer in such a way?
I very happy they have a grocery store that is just outside city limits and us accessible on the bus route. Prices are comparable to other grocery stores. Staff is helpful. Plenty of parking and this grocery shopping is a one stop shop. There is a big lots and a family dollar in the same shopping center. Again a great place for people who live in the city to get all of their home needs taken care of.
I am here 3 or 4x a week sometimes. I love that some of the long time staff knows my face and they are so kind and fun. I find most of what I need and they add new items all the time. I just wish the seafood section was bigger. The place is always clean. I have seen rodents at other places (On The river front). All in all it is a good place to shop.
It's really simple. Offer an Express line and politely inform customers with overflowing baskets that it's the Express line. Or, simply piss off customers that want an Express line and actually follow the guidelines. You can't have it both ways.

I used to shop this store three or four times a week. When they first opened, they never enforced the "Express". Then, in a round about way, they did. And now, they are back to allowing people with thirty or forty items to clog this line and say not a word.
