I called a week and a half later and was advised that they had received all the documentation they needed, however, they also transferred me to Ms. Williams who was processing the claim. Ms. Williams looked at the information I had provided and said it all looked fine. I provided my cell phone number in case she needed anything else. I also asked her for the amount of money in my father's account but she stated she could not provide the amount due to security reasons.

I realize the department is probably very busy but Ms. Williams was not only unresponsive but she chose not to divulge information about what really is a minuscule payment bringing into question her ability to make prudent decisions. Her refusal to return calls is another issue pointing to her inability to understand what defines sound customer service practices.
I recently located a record for my late father and completed the online form provided on Delaware's Unclaimed Property website. I submitted copies of my father's social security number, death certificate and copies of my social security number and Driver License.
I called again two days later and again, she failed to respond to my request. I finally called the general number and was informed that the claim record showed Ms. Williams received my request and forwarded it to second tier processing. I was asked to call back in a few days to determine if the claim had received final approval.
I called last week and was informed that the claim had been sent to the Treasury Department for payment. I asked if I could be provided the amount of the amount that was to be paid. I was told the amount was $43 and some cents.
Twelve days later, I received a letter from Ms. Williams advising me she needed a copy of my father's social security card. She could have called and avoided spending state money on paper and postage and allowing twelve days to elapse. Nonetheless, I sent her the information she requested to her email address referenced in her letter. Three days later I called the office and left a voicemail requesting she please call to confirm that she received my email. She never called.
